Inspection and Quality Control

Unmatched Quality Control from Start to Finish

At Leading Edge Manufacturing, quality isn’t just a checkpoint—it’s built into every step of our process. As we work toward ISO 9001:2015 certification, we hold ourselves to uncompromising standards, using structured inspections and quality management systems to ensure every product meets or exceeds expectations. From raw material checks to final part verification, our commitment to precision ensures your project is delivered exactly as specified—on time and within budget.

Our Inspection Process

Our inspection and quality control process is built to catch issues before they ever reach your door. From the moment materials arrive, we implement a multi-stage quality assurance system that includes material verification, first article inspections, in-process checks, and final approval. Each stage is designed to ensure dimensional accuracy, proper function, and visual appeal.

FAQs About Inspection & Quality Control

What is the purpose of Material Inspection at Leading Edge Mfg?

Material Inspection ensures that all incoming materials meet specified requirements before production begins. We verify quantity, size, alloy, and aesthetics to confirm they align with project specifications.

What is a First Article Inspection (FAI), and when is it conducted?

A First Article Inspection is performed at the start of production to validate that the manufacturing process produces parts that meet all requirements. It focuses on dimensions, tolerances, fit, function, and overall quality.

How do you ensure quality during the production process?

We implement In-Process Inspections at various production stages. These inspections monitor dimensions, aesthetics, weld quality, and material verification to maintain consistent quality throughout manufacturing.

Do you offer Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) services?

While we don’t perform NDE in-house, we collaborate with certified third-party professionals who conduct NDE tests such as Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye-Penetrant Testing (PT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Visual Examination Testing (VT) to ASNT-TC1 standards.

What methods do you use for paint and coating inspections?

Post-powder coating, our inspectors assess paint quality using three methods: measuring coating thickness (millage), evaluating the degree of cure, and testing adhesion to ensure a durable and high-quality finish.

What does your final inspection process entail?

Our final inspection is a comprehensive review ensuring the product meets all internal and external standards. It includes checks on dimensions, fit, function, aesthetics, weld quality, material verification, and documentation.

Are your quality control processes aligned with any certifications?

We are actively working towards ISO 9001:2015 certification. In the meantime, we maintain strict quality management systems to ensure our products meet high industry standards.

How do you handle documentation and traceability?

We maintain detailed records at every inspection stage, ensuring full traceability of materials and processes. This documentation supports quality assurance and facilitates any necessary audits or reviews.
